All our bags, as you know, are made of genuine natural leather: a resistant material, durable and sustainable as it is a by product of the meat and dairy industry. Furthermore, the natural leather we use is permium quality. This means that not only will it last many years but if well cared for it can 'age' and acquire a unique character.
But how can genuine natural leather be cleaned?
There are many professional products for cleaning it, from sprays to special brushes, to cleansing lotions.
If you prefer more homemade methods, here we can give you some practical yet safe advice for your genuine Italian leather bag.
However these solutions work well only on REAL and NATURAL LEATHER and not on its substitutes!
1. WET CLOTH or STEAM
In case of small stains on your leather bag, you can use a slightly damp cloth and wipe gently. Steam is recommended for dark colored leather bags.
ALWAYS leave it to DRY in the open air but NEVER IN THE SUNLIGHT.
2. CLEANSING LOTION or HAND CREAM
You can use a drop of cleansing milk on the cloth to make the SKIN SOFT AND BRIGHT and then let it dry. If you like, this is a beauty treatment for your leather bag we recommend to do a couple of times a year.
Even the hand cream is a valid remedy that we suggest exclusively for NATURAL LEATHER (vegetable tanned leather).
Always use cleansing lotions and hand creams with the most natural formulation possible.
3. CLEAN THE SUEDE LEATHER
Suede is a very delicate type of genuine leather, so we do not recommend treating it with any product but only with APPROPRIATE BRUSHES and always brushing in the same direction.
4. EGG WHITE
Here is another effective solution we recommend for cleaning CLEAR or VERY CLEAR genuine leather bags as long as it is not too absorbent (never on suede!). Always do a test on a handle or on a zip puller to see if it is well tolerated by the skin itself.
Always remember to put your bag inside a cotton dustbag and fill it with paper so that it keeps its original shape ... and do a 'beauty treatment' as we have suggested once or twice a year. So your bag will not only be ETERNAL but will become more and more beautiful over time.
